Depression is when the body feels low on energy and resources, and the mind gets caught in a negative spiral.
At Manuvision, we work through the nervous system to activate the breath and muscles, bringing energy and flow back into the body. We help you reconnect with your body and release emotions that have been held back. This creates movement and new life in the areas that feel “collapsed,” helping you feel more energized and grounded.

What is Depression?
Depression is one of the most common mental health conditions, affecting us physically, mentally, and emotionally. It is often marked by a sense of hopelessness, linked to the body using only a minimal amount of resources to keep going.
This happens because the part of the nervous system responsible for mobilization and alertness has been shut down. The vital part of the nervous system has effectively “collapsed,” usually as a result of prolonged stress, where the body has used up all its resources to function at an unnaturally high pace.
This state of burnout leads to negative thoughts and symptoms such as low energy, difficulty concentrating, sleep disturbances, feelings of emptiness, changes in appetite, self-blame, and guilt.
How We Treat Depression
At Manuvision, we address depression by activating the muscles and the parts of the body that have “given up.”
Unlike stress, where muscles are tense, during depression the muscles are often under-active, because the body has run out of energy. We work to stimulate the breath and muscles and get the body moving again, restoring flow, energy, and a sense of vitality.
Lack of Connection to the Body
When we are depressed, we often lose touch with our body and emotions and become mostly focused on our thoughts. Depressive thoughts typically revolve around negative ideas about the future or feelings of guilt and self-blame related to the past.
It is common to have difficulty crying during depression, even though the thoughts are often linked to emotions such as grief, anger, or anxiety. Instead, a lack of feelings, expressed as emptiness or apathy, may dominate. Some may also experience sudden tearfulness without truly connecting to deeper emotions like grief or anger.
Body Therapy Creates Connection to Body and Emotions
At Manuvision, body therapy focuses on reconnecting with your emotions. Depression often arises when emotional responses are suppressed—whether they stem from difficult circumstances, past trauma, or stress—and we disconnect from them because they feel too overwhelming to handle.
Suppressed emotions usually show up as tension in the body or—as is often the case in depression—as a lack of tension. This absence of tension leads to low energy and vitality in the muscles and joints.
In a Manuvision depression treatment, we restore the nervous system and release the breath. The breath is closely linked to how we process and express emotions, so bringing movement to the breath also helps us reconnect with suppressed feelings.
This makes it possible to feel yourself again—and to access the energy and positive emotions that lie beneath the depressive state.
