Manuvision also Works with Athletes
Manuvision body therapy is not only a treatment method that can help with illness and injuries — it is also a tool to optimize the body for elite-level performance. For many years, Manuvision has worked with top athletes from around the world — including cyclists, football and handball players, track and field athletes, martial artists, runners, and sailors.
Through body therapy, we work on:
- Prevent injuries
- Optimize body and breathing so the body can preserve and utilize its resources effectively, allowing organs to perform at their best
- Improve joint mobility and support the body’s ability to “bounce” back
- Understand body signals and release old trauma or lingering injuries
- Cultivate motivation and drive so body, emotions, and mind work together toward the same goal
- Train focus and attention to maintain concentration all the way to the finish line
- Balance core strength and flexibility
- Regulate the nervous system, enhancing the ability to switch between performance and recovery
Manuvision and La Sansi: Supporting Runners in Catalonia
For over three years, Manuvision has collaborated with La Sansi, an organization specializing in marathons and popular running events in Catalonia. The goal of this partnership is to enhance care and recovery for participants in these sporting events. During these competitions, the Manuvision team provides post-race manual recovery treatments to participants after they finish. These treatments are designed to support physiological recovery following the prolonged effort of endurance races.
The treatments focus on:
- Releasing muscle tension
- Improving blood and lymph circulation
- Reducing muscle overload
- Facilitating the elimination of metabolites produced during intense exercise
This approach helps athletes recover faster and more effectively, while reducing the risk of discomfort or injury. Through this collaboration, Manuvision reinforces its commitment to health, wellbeing, and functional recovery, bringing professional expertise in manual therapy applied to sports.

Performance Requires Recovery
Helping athletes perform isn’t just about building strength — it’s also about supporting the body’s ability to recover. Endurance and power depend on the body’s capacity to let go and “come down” after giving its maximum effort. At Manuvision, the nervous system is central to body therapy. It plays a key role both in recovery and in maintaining composure under pressure. We train the ability to navigate between the nervous system’s two fundamental states:
- Sympathetic nervous system — where the body is ready for action
- Parasympathetic nervous system — where the body is at rest
Through this work, athletes learn to find and maintain the balance between recovery and performance, enabling them to perform at their best while staying calm, focused, and in control.
Releasing Old Trauma and Injuries
The focus of body therapy and training on the connection between body and mind is essential for athletes to release old trauma — whether from sports injuries or past experiences — and regain mobility in areas where the body has tightened up. Even after a physical injury has healed, tissues often remain contracted. These contractions reduce mobility and circulation if the emotional trauma hasn’t been fully addressed.
Many elite athletes also seek treatment to alleviate performance anxiety or to restore balance between body and mind after major competitions. Manuvision body therapy supports this process by regulating the nervous system and releasing the tension that can block recovery, focus, and optimal performance.
“I have been very happy with the collaboration I’ve had with Manuvision since 2010. It has been an important part of optimizing my performance and maintaining focus at the top level. It has been especially helpful during the long Grand Tours, where quick recovery is absolutely crucial.”
– Alberto Contador, Cyclist, Tour de France

The Strongest Drive Comes from Emotions
Performing at the elite level requires a special kind of drive — the motivation and focus needed to maintain peak performance all the way through. At Manuvision body therapy, we help athletes discover their individual sources of drive. Once this drive is identified, we work on cultivating the mindset and determination required for elite performance. This also involves recognizing and confronting personal weaknesses, because understanding and acknowledging them allows us to address them as mental challenges rather than obstacles.
The strongest drive we have comes from our emotions. That’s why it’s essential to understand and differentiate emotions from the body and mind. At its core, this work is about listening to the impulses from thoughts, body, and emotionsand aligning them in the same direction. It’s also about having the courage to face and release emotions so they don’t block performance or build up as physical tension.
Body, Relationship, Attention, and Potential
In essence, we focus on strengthening the body, relationships, attention, and potential:
- BODY: We create the foundation for optimal breathing and structural balance, enabling the best possible movement patterns. We also focus on core training and the role of nutrition in energy, fat metabolism, and natural weight management.
- Relation: We work on body and social intelligence — the ability to listen to the body’s signals and use it to its full potential, and the ability to become a better teammate by understanding your own mechanisms and sources of drive.
- Attention: We focus on motivation — finding joy in training. Training should be the best place to truly meet yourself.
- Potential: It’s about discovering your personal drive and aligning body, mind, and emotions so they work together toward the same goal.
Who Have We Helped?
Over the years, we have worked with some of the world’s top athletes — from cyclists, football and handball players to track and field athletes, martial artists, runners, and sailors. We are especially proud of our collaborations with the Danish Men’s Handball Team and the Tour de France.
Tour de France
Since 2000, Manuvision has worked with professional cycling teams such as CSC, Phonak, and Team Coast. In 2011, we joined Bjarne Riis’ Team Tinkoff Saxo, and in 2017 we worked with Team Orica. We have participated in all the major races — including Giro d’Italia, Tour de France, and La Vuelta a España — as well as the teams’ annual training camps. Both the riders and the team staff have received treatment and Manuvision training.
“The treatment is especially very important for me when I face stages that I want to win. It helps me to focus mentally, and I get a better feeling of myself and my body. Especially my breathing improves, and so does my position on the bike. The day after a treatment I have more energy, and I can push myself that bit further — the difference that counts at the finish line. The treatment helps me to win… it makes me feel like Superman!!!”
— Peter Sagan, Tour de France 2015
